Compassion Cafe is Hospice Volunteering!

Compassion Café is the name of our hospice volunteer program. This unique program invites people to serve on our hospice team as companionship volunteers Volunteers visit with hospice patients while sitting in one-of-a kind, hand-painted “compassion” chairs.

Volunteers are an integral part of our Hospice care team and help enrich the lives of our hospice patients. Volunteer time commitment following training is a minimum of one hour a month, based on the volunteer’s schedule. Volunteers are very important to the patient plan of care and we want to do our best to be as flexible as possible for our volunteers.

Volunteer Training:

Compassion Café hospice volunteer program offers comprehensive training, flexible volunteer hours, and on-going support, coaching and education. Each volunteer is trained on the philosophy of hospice care, HIPAA privacy, changes in the body as the patient nears end-of-life, and more.

Volunteers are assigned to a patient and visit one-three or three-five times a month depending on the patient’s care plan and the availability of the volunteer. Hospice volunteers are in high demand and we would love to tell you more about our program! For more information, please call Lisa, volunteer coordinator, at 402-690-0327.
